| Mar. 26th, 2009 11:06 am I'm Engaged Just for few who check my LJ:
Kinga and me got engaged last weekend.
When we actually know when certain family members will be in country we will have some sort of engagement party.
The wedding is tenuously dated sometime toward the end of next year, probably around August-September.
We are planning on having a small civil ceremony wedding here in Australia and having a larger catholic wedding in Poland for her family. When we know what date we will have it on I'll send out invites. 4 comments - Leave a comment

| Jul. 6th, 2008 11:56 pm Poland Well I've arrived in Poland. The flight over was very long but interesting. Had stops in Singapore and Zurich. Singapore was the most interesting with lots of nice shops. The longest flight was between Singapore and Zurich with 15 hours or so on the plane. Had fun trying to catch our connecting flight in Munich. Our plane landed the same time boarding started for the next one. Had to run the entire length of the airport (about a kilometer I think. It was really long) to get there in time. Was raining and cool when I arrived but has since cleared up and was even up to 30 degrees today. The weather here is fantastic at the moment, not too hot and not too cold.
Kinga's brother got married and the wedding was a lot of fun. Everyone who speaks a little English practices it on me. Lot of really fresh good food. They had a pig slaughtered for the wedding so there area heaps of really nice home made sausages. The countryside here is very interesting with lots of small farms. Having fun practicing what little polish I have with everyone. Slowly getting better at it. Kinga's family is nice and we have been invited back for her other brothers wedding in may next year. Planning on posting photos when I get some more time. 1 comment - Leave a comment

| May. 16th, 2008 11:17 pm Well there goes my academic future. Commercial science seems to be my niche Had my annual performance review. Apparently they are very happy. So happy they gave me a pay-rise to an annual full-time equivalent salary of $58k a year. Its a full time equivalent since I'm still casual and studying so they pay me by the hour for the hours I'm there.
And when depending on my performance this year when I negotiate for my full-time position at the end of the year when I graduate it may go up again. Apparently commercial science is my niche.
Pretty much guarantees that I'm not going back for honours/masters/phd unless I get a full commercial support backing. Which may happen yet so who knows.
In other news I'm going to Poland on the 3rd of July and get back on the 25th. Going to meet Kinga's family. Need to learn a lot more Polish.
I think the first thing to invest in when I get back is a new car since mine is shit and keeps having electrical and mechanical problems. Thinking Toyota or Mazda. Any recommendations? 5 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 17th, 2007 02:40 pm Test yoinked from whiteadelphi As usual the test spits out answers semi-related to some psychological choices but vague enough to apply to anyone. I'll comment on some of the areas.
You are a very sensitive person [wrong - I've been killing my sensitivities for YEARS. Buddhist style] and you try hard (perhaps a little too hard) [sometimes, I either just give up at the start or try to hard generally] to make favourable impressions and to be recognised by your peers. But you have that inherent need to feel appreciated and admired and you are easily hurt if all of your endeavours go by unappreciated or not acknowledged [True, except the hurt part. I do feel hurt but I also tend to get angry and try to prove how wrong they all are for slighting me]. Stop trying so hard. [Eh, I'll run off and become Zen someday. Or just become more apathetic]
Now there are many things in life that you require as essential to your well-being [Not really, I keep thing around but don't really care that much if the disappear on me. I'll live. Kind of contradictory with the next section though.] but, try as you may, something always seems to be getting in your way. A word of advice - 'keep trying' and you may be pleasantly surprised to see just how matters turn out.
Many people will consider you egotistical and full of your own self importance. [Wow, really? You think? Maybe just a little huh?] On the surface you could well give this impression and perhaps the reason for this complacent attitude is because at times you indeed have that 'short fuse' and are quick to take offence. [Not true, My fuse these days is very, very long. I think it more of my tendency to always assume I am right and important about everything regardless. Plus my tendencies towards megalomania and delusions of godhood. Mind you from a philosophical point of view I am the damn god of my universe which is the only one that really effects me anyway.]
You pretend that you are a carefree individual and that nothing really bothers you - that you are so self-sufficient that whatever problems beset you they simply flow off you as water flows off a ducks back. [True, although I do convince myself very well that its not pretend. And pull it off an awful lot] You are experiencing considerable stress, trying to conceal yourself from the rest of the world. [Uhhh... No. I consider myself a god in my own universe. What is there to conceal? And stress is right down at the moment] In actual fact - deep down, you are not at all happy. [Really not. Deep down I am very happy at the moment. Everything seems to be happening just right for me in my life.] You feel lonely and you need someone with whom you can 'Let your hair down' and share your hopes, dreams and high standards. [You mean my girlfriend who constantly drags me out doing crazy things? Never really had a problem with being lonely and not connecting with someone since high school] You are imposing unnecessary self restraint on yourself. You would like to demonstrate the unique quality of your character to all and sundry. [True and True. Although I do consider self restraint to be a very favourable attribute in a person. Shows the strength of their self will]
You are presently worried about your future and you feel that whatever you do will go wrong. [Hell no. Everything is going right and I know exactly what I'm doing in my future] At this time you are your own worst enemy. [Well my apathy and ego definitely are. Don't know about the rest of me.] All the disappointment that you have experienced, coupled with the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals, have led to anxiety. [A little. But hey my ego can overcome a little anxiety and disappointment anyday] You would like recognition and a position of trust but you are concerned that these hopes and dreams may not be realised. [Nope. I make my self positions of trust and recognition wherever I go] You are very argumentative and insistent that you are right - maybe you are - but you are pushing too hard. [Oh yeah. Thats what you think, well see who's right] Take it easy, let go, and smile. [Like I said, some day I'll run away and go Zen] Smiling and agreeing with people works wonders - try it and see. [Yup, gets me promotions and raises anyway.]
So now there is a little insight into the workings of my mind. 1 comment - Leave a comment

| Jul. 10th, 2007 03:14 pm WTF? Well I went to the doctors recently about my extreme lethargy. (As in always tired and wanting to sleep, sleeping 12-15 hours a night every night and then still not even having the energy to get out of bed, instead of the usual mere apathy.) Nothing showed up in the initial examination so they took some blood and sent me off to come back in a few days. Went back today to get the results of the blood test. Everything was pretty positive but there were a few WTF moments. Apparently I have high iron levels which was not to much of a surprise since I do eat a lot of red meat). But also I seem to have very low cholesterol levels...Even though all the red meat I eat comes slavered in fat, with extra fat on the side. I have a very fatty diet and little exercise. So WTF?, must just have a good metabolism. Additionally I have low-normal blood sugar levels...Even though I eat so much sugar someone once asked me how I was still alive after eating it all. I usually go through about half a cup of sugar each morning for breakfast (I used to have about a whole cup but I cut down). Then drink nothing but very strong cordial or soft drinks (Don't like water that much). And then top it off with high sugar snacks and foods. Another WTF. Then to top it all off with my hormone levels is the hormones that control my thyroid which seem to indicate that I have either a mild case of hypothyroidism or are developing full hypothyroidism. A condition which means you end up having a very poor and sluggish metabolism. Completely contradictory to all the other results. WTF? My biology must just be very very strange. Well we shall see about the hypothyroidism in three months time with the test to confirm it. 1 comment - Leave a comment | |

| Mar. 14th, 2007 01:17 pm New Laptop My new laptop just arrived. IT IS AWESOME!!! I got the new Toshiba Satellite P100, Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 (2.17Ghz, 4MB, 667Mhz), 17"WSXGA+ TruBrite, 2 GB 667MHz SDRAM, 200GB SATA, DVD-SuperMulti D/D Layer, NVIDIA® GeForce™ GTX7900 512MB Dedicated Graphics (up to 783MB TC) and Harmon Kardon Stereo Speakers Intel High Definition Audio with Dolby Home Theatre sound for enhanced clarity.
It came with vista home premium but thats going to be wiped. I'm going to run a duel boot system with fedora core and windows XP. (Don't quite trust vista yet and hasn't appealed to me just yet. Plus it eats up far too many system resources "looking pretty" for my taste.)
It big, its beautiful... I think I'm in love. (Now all I need is a copy of oblivion to run full spec.) Leave a comment

| Jan. 24th, 2007 08:30 pm Is finally happened... Well this is a long time since I posted on this thing. Just thought I'd tell everyone my breaking point has been reached, I've snapped.
Windows is now gone from my computer.
This was after windows explorer corrupted itself when it downloaded the latest updates. No spyware, no viruses. Just self corruption from windows own damn updates. Apparently from when I discussed this with the techies from work, this is not an isolated incident.
Now my computer is happly running Fedora Core 5, a decent linux build I use at work.
Hasn't crashed since.
I'm now a happy man.
In other news I'm still alive, going to start honors this year on a physics topic with my first choice supervisor. Me and Kinga are still going strong and thats about it. Still far to busy between life and work but at least I get paid well. Hopeing to start a game when I start uni and settle into some sort of routine, been far to long since I've gamed. Current Location: Land of the free. Current Mood: geeky

Nov. 14th, 2005 03:28 pm You are Sephiroth! You scored -1 good or evil, 3 spirituality, 5 power, and 17 intelligence! | In the beginning there was a man, and his name was Sephiroth, and he was bad... very, very bad. Sephiroth is the kind of guy you put a restraining order on before you even meet him. He's got a head full of bad wiring and funny ideas about his place in the world. He thinks he's the son of God, and that's not good when the God he believes in is Jenova. Religious overtones aside, Sephiroth is a sadistic, calculating, intelligent, unrelenting force to be reckoned with. The guy walks through fire, cleaves Behemoths to pieces in one strike and all that before a picnic at the North Cave with Aeris. He carries a big sword - not so much for the compensating as for the instilling terror factor - and he's not afraid to use it. Sephiroth, if the most convoluted of all FF baddies, is the most infamous due to a bit of drama theater involving an innocent Ancient and his big sword. The one undeniable thing about sephiroth is that he was(is) evil incarnate, and stopping him literally meant(means) the difference between the end of the world and another tomorrow. If you're Sephiroth, please allow me to get the hell out of the way before I iritate you, O Great and Evil one. I really can't think of any good things that can come from someone like sephiroth - perhaps because I'm frozen in terror - so I'll just say "Please don't kill me" and leave you to your own devices. Similar characters include Ultimecia(ff8), and Vormav(fft)
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 26% on purity | | You scored higher than 22% on faith | | You scored higher than 39% on strength | | You scored higher than 61% on intelligence |

What can I say? I've got a big sword and I know how to use it.Leave a comment

| FACT:You embody the German principle of Konstantzusammenschaft, which is best described in English (without using the obscure English word "sammenschaft") as "eternal togethermanship". | | | The Loverboy Random Gentle Love Master (RGLMm)
Well-liked. Well-established. You are The Loverboy. Loverboys thrive in committed, steady relationships--as opposed to, say, Playboys, who want sex without too much attachment.
You've had many relationships and nearly all of them have been successful. You're a nice guy, you know the ropes, and even if you can be a little hasty with decisions, most girls think of you as a total catch. Your hastiness comes off as spontaneity most of the time anyhow, making you especially popular in your circle of friends, too.
Your exact opposite: The Billy Goat
Deliberate Brutal Sex Dreamer
| You know not to make the typical Loverboy mistake of choosing someone who appreciates your good humor and popularity, but who offers nothing in return. You belong with someone outgoing, independent, and creative. Otherwise, you'll get bored. And then instead of surprising her with flowers or a practical joke, you'll surprise her by leaving.
ALWAYS AVOID: The Nymph
CONSIDER: The Window Shopper, The Peach |

| Sep. 21st, 2005 12:01 am I have a car! Today I bought my 21st birthday present from my parents and myself. A 1992 Mitsubishi Magna TR Executive 2.6L 4 cylinder, with air-con, power-steering, auto, the works. And even better, it runs on gas so its cheap to run. 2 comments - Leave a comment | |

| Sep. 19th, 2005 11:45 pm Uni ends. Work begins. I was hoping to have some time free this holidays. I was hoping to catch up with people. I was really hoping I could get to uni and work on an assignment I really need to do and get some research done too. But no, not with one person at work cutting their shifts back and one person sick I am working 6 days this week. Maybe seven. And five days next week. Maybe six. On the other hand this will get me a lot more money to spend on the car I am buying for my birthday.
Speaking of my birthday, I am turning 21 on the upcoming long weekend, the 1st of october to be precise. To celebrate I plan on meeting people in town on the friday night (30th of september) at 7pm at the pub formally known at the Heritage (Or Jimmy Rowes, Or the Colonel Light, or whatever it is now.) and moving on from there to wherever sounds interesting. It’s open invite so come along one and all, bring friends, bring family, bring the strange guy you met on the street five minutes ago. It should be a fun night. Leave a comment

In other news, I'm planning on running a D&D game one night of the week, either monday, wednesday or friday.
Servants of the Dragon King Dungeons and Dragons V3.5 Players: 3-5 Time: 6pm-10pm Monday, Wednesday or Friday, Or 3-6 Friday. Description: The characters are a group of young Halflings/Humans/Half-elfs/Half-Orcs or similar (No elves, Dwarves, anything with a level adjustment, more than 1 starting HD or not common. Focus is on character DEVELOPMENT not how different or weird your character is to start with.) Who will be in game swear fealty and servitude to the Dragon King of the land, and are provided with education and training to be trusted servants of his and to go forth and perform his will. Reasonably rapid character advancement (3-4 session per increase in level on average). This is a game that will be set around a group of realistic (for the world setting) characters all willingly in service to a King, thus players must make characters who will be; a) loyal to their king, b) play well in the group and c) not be long lost royalty, contain the blood of mystical creatures, be descendant from a God, son/daughter of a great hero of the land etc..
(Note: Yes, I am tired of running games where the first things that pop out of the players mouths is: can I play a monstrous character with these special powers and mysterious past who is a loner and does all this stuff by themselves all the time and has this secret thing that the group doesn't know about and so on, so i though I'll just be quick and say NO right out, right now.)
